The Ideas Man

If Bob Rae had spent this Liberal leadership race describing his vision for the party, he'd have been rightly criticized for being a newcomer to the party who had no place dictating what should be done.

Instead, his message has been clear and consistent: he stands for Liberal values; he is the most experienced and able leader in the race; he is listening to what Liberals want and will make our hopes and dreams for the party come true, including renewing the party and whupping Stephen Harper.

This was not the time for him to focus on ideas. But just watch him go if he becomes Liberal leader. As Garth Turner wrote in an admiring post last night, "Rae is the sum of all Conservative fears."
